Merton Johnson

Merton Johnson, age 91, of rural Wheaton, MN passed away November 7, 2021 at Countryside Inn in Rosholt, SD.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton with Pastor Don Main officiating. Special Music will be provided by Marcy LeClair. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Interment will be Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Pallbearers will be Dustin Johnson, Travor Timm, Trent Timm, Robert Johnson, Craig Lichtsinn and Richard Johnson.

Merton David Johnson was born at the Wheaton Hospital on April 14, 1930 to David and Gladys Johnson. Merton finished school up to eighth grade. He and his brother Clayton stayed home to work on the family farm. Merton lived and breathed farming. Merton also worked for the telephone company for a few years before farming full time. Mert met Vera Kvick in 1953 and they were married on October 30, 1954. They were married for sixty-three years before Vera passed away on March 4, 2018.

Merton is survived by his daughters: Vicky Johnson of Wheaton, MN; and Judy Johnson of Hoffman, MN; grandchildren: Dustin Johnson of Wheaton; Amber Johnson of St. Paul, MN; and great-grandchildren: Hunter, Aurora and Gavin Johnson.

Merton was preceded in death by his wife Vera; parents; brother Clayton; son-in-law Gary Johnson; and grandson Travis.
