Ada Dahl

Ada Dahl (Sarrazin), age 102, of Wheaton, MN passed away on September 9th, 2022. Born Adelheid Suermann on September 7th, 1920 in Amelunxen, Germany to Hubert & Josephine Suermann. She came of age during the tumultuous era leading up to World War II, but despite that she lived a happy life with her five brothers and sister, the youngest of seven children. She was united in marriage in September of 1941 to Klaus Sarrazin.  They had two sons, Hubertus and Wolfgang. In 1951 Ada, Klaus, and their children left everything and everyone they knew and emigrated to rural Minnesota. They saw their sons grow from poverty into one a successful attorney and the other a businessman, to her great pride. Ada became a German teacher for the Hector, MN school district.

Ada was widowed just over a decade after coming to America. She later married Kenneth Dahl and they traveled extensively through Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Mediterranean, Australia, and New Zealand. Ada became a grandmother to four, whom she loved dearly. The value of family was first and foremost to her. Ada spent her retirement in Bismarck, ND, followed by Spicer, MN where she cherished her lake house. She loved her winters in Phoenix and gulf coast Florida. She was an avid gardener and her love of flowers was famous. She was usually found with a smile on her face and a dachshund or two at her feet. In her final years she moved to Wheaton, MN to be near her beloved granddaughter Chrissy.

She is preceded in death by her husbands and son Wolfgang (Wolfie), and three daughters in law, and many friends and extended family. She is survived by son Hubertus Sarrazin, grandchildren Stephen (Shelly) Sarrazin, Christine Stafford, Alexus (Krystyna) Sarrazin, and Alicia (Jeffrey) Lenart, and ten great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal or wildlife charity of choice. The family extends great thanks to the staff of Traverse Care Center for helping make the final years of her life comfortable and as happy as possible.
