Alex Wilson (Aleksander Wyszotrawka), age 94, longtime resident of Dumont, MN, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, with Fr. Stanley Wieser, Celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Sanasack with special music provided by Tressa Lanter. Pallbearers: Billy Grell, Shamus Wilson, Aaron Wilson, Joe Wilson, Riley Wilson, Isaac Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers: Willie Rinke, Garner Schmidt, Donald Conroy, Ronald Peickert, the late Gene Fridgen, and the entire Dumont/Wheaton Communities. Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 21st, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Dumont, MN. Alex was born August 26, 1919 in Il'nyk, Poland, to Adam and Maria Wyszotrawka. He attended school off and on through grade four and worked on his family's small farm. In 1939 he joined the Polish Military Cadets. His military time ultimately took him to Germany where he met and married Marion Schmid and daughter Wanda was born. Alex and Marion were sponsored by Leo and Katherine Yaggie of Breckenridge, MN, through Catholic Charities in 1949 and immigrated to the United States. After working for the Yaggie family for a short period, Alex went to work for Schuler Grain of Breckenridge for approximately four and a half years. Mike and Tony were born while the family was in Breckenridge. He then purchased a grain elevator in Dumont, MN, and the family moved. Tom, Bruce and Doug were born while in Dumont. Alex owned and operated Dumont Grain Company for twenty-seven years and retired in 1982. Alex and Marion spent their retirement years between Dumont and Tucson, AZ, thoroughly enjoying their winter home. Alex enjoyed dancing, golfing, fishing and hunting. He especially loved playing cards and watching his sons and grandchildren play sports. Alex was a die-hard Twins fan. He was always very engaging with people and in good spirits! He was very proud to be an American! He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Alex is survived by his wife Marion of Wheaton; daughter Wanda (Art) Grell of Parker, CO; Sons: Michael (Vicki) Wilson of Prior Lake, MN; Anthony Wilson of Dumont, MN; Thomas (Robin) Wilson of Detroit Lakes, MN; Bruce Wilson of Burnsville, MN and Douglas (Monica) Wilson of Wheaton, MN; grandchildren: Andrea (Josue') Sabillon, Billy (Erin) Grell, Leah (Jeremy) Dahlback, Joe Wilson, Suzanne (Rob) Hansen, Heather Wilson, Kara Wilson, Shamus Wilson, Christin Wilson, Haley (John) Benjamin, Jordan Wilson, Aaron (Tiffany) Wilson, Riley Wilson and Isaac Wilson; great-grandchildren: Isabela Sabillon, Cecilia Sabillon, Lola Dahlback, Max Dahlback, Cecelia Wilson and Brenna Wilson. Alex is preceded in death by his parents Adam and Maria Wyszotrawka; brothers Nikolai, Jakob and Ivan; sister Ludvinia; and daughter-in-law Jennifer (Bruce) Wilson.
