Archie Olson

Funeral Service for Archie Lowell Olson, 89, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Pallbearers will be John Fridgen, Paul Fridgen, Troy Fridgen, Jeff Deal, Ervin Simpson & Kevin Deal. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton, with Military Rites provided by the Wheaton American Legion. Archie Lowell Olson was born on August 23, 1917 in Dwight, North Dakota to Albert M & Hilva (Johnson) Olson. He attended school in Willmar, Kerkhoven, and Wheaton, Minnesota. After his education Archie worked for his uncle on a farm in North Dakota. Archie also worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. near Duluth, Minnesota. He entered the United States Army on March 4, 1942 and was discharged November 10, 1945. For his service Archie received the American Theatre Service Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Service Ribbon & the Good Conduct Medal. Archie returned to Wheaton and was united in marriage to Elna Olson in Wheaton. Archie worked at the Farmers Coop Elevator in Wheaton for 42 years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed hunting, fishing trips to Canada, gardening, caring for his dogs, visiting his brother, Don, and working on his house. Archie was a member of the Wheaton American Legion. Archie passed away December 4, 2006 at the Wheaton Community Hospital. Archie is survived by two granddaughters: Kirsten (Thomas) Penney of Alexandria, Minnesota & Kathryn (Petri) Asikainen of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, two brothers: Don Olson of Wheaton, & Kenneth Olson of Seattle, Washington, son-in-law: Lawrence Sloan of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, brother-in-law: Richard Kapphahn of Wheaton, and numerous nieces & nephews.
