A Memorial Service for Arla Fridgen will be held Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ranney Funeral Chapel in Wheaton, Minnesota. Pastor Tom Olson will officiate. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial for Arla will follow at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Dumont, Minnesota. Arla passed away Tuesday evening at the Sanford Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, North Dakota. She was 76 years old. Arla Jane Fridgen was born in Graceville, Minnesota on March 28th, 1935, the daughter of Fred and Laurena Peickert of Dumont, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dumont and attended high school in Wheaton, MN. Arla was united in marriage to Dwaine Fridgen and they had two sons, Randy and Tim. As a younger woman Arla enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. In her later years she was an avid reader and throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. One of her favorite places was the family cabin at Turtle Lake, Minnesota where she spent her summer weekends since 1966. Arla is survived by her husband , Dwaine "Danie", sons: Randy of Shakopee, Minnesota and Tim (Jennifer) of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, grandsons : Ryan (Nichole) of Shakopee, MN, Trey and Tate Fridgen of East Grand Forks, Minnesota and granddaughter Laura Fridgen of Eden Prairie, MN, great grandsons: Jake and Austin Fridgen of Shakopee, MN: one brother Marlin (Donna Lou) Peickert of Rio Verde, Arizona, two sisters: Donna Mae Schwartz of St. Louis Park, Minnesota and Glenna (Gene) Lutger of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents.
