Arline Grob, age 88, of Norcross, Minnesota passed away Tuesday morning, August 29, 2017 at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett, Minnesota where she resided for the last two years. Prior to that she was a long time resident of Norcross, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Herman, Minnesota with Rev. Darrell Boe officiating. Organist will be Olivia Richards.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.
Interment will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, rural Herman. Pallbearers will be Derek Johnson, Claude Sperr, Leslie Ness, Derald Hilbrand, Laurel Ogg and Michael Marks.
Arline Marie Ness was born April 11, 1929 in Cloquet, Minnesota to Frank Henry and Elsie May (Miller) Ness. She was raised in Ness Township, Minnesota and attended school in Meadowlands, Floodwood and Herman, Minnesota. Arline was married to Charles Grob Sr. on August 31, 1946 in Norcross, Minnesota. The couple was married forty-nine years until the time of Charles's death on December 21, 1995.
Arline was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hat Ladies, and the Church Sewing Club and Ladies Guild. Arline also served on the Grant County Board. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and quilting. Arline worked in various restaurants in the area and along with her husband managed the Norcross Café for many years. She was well known for her caramel rolls.
Arline is survived by her sons: James (Gail) Grob of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; and Bob (Sandie) Johnson of Isanti, Minnesota; grandchildren: Melanie Nunemacher of Elizabethtown; Michelle Keller of Elizabethtown; and Derek (Amie) Johnson of Princeton, Minnesota; and great-grandchildren: Brittany Harshman, Samantha Henderson, Camerin Morey, Gabrielle, Jonah, Caleb and Clara Johnson.
Arline was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Elsie Ness; husband Charles Grob Sr.; an infant son Leslie; son Charles "Sparky" Grob Jr.; two grandchildren: B.J. Johnson and Melissa (Johnson) Morey; sister Becky Stradley; and brother Martin Ness.
