Funeral Service for Bernita L. Shuller, 96, of Watertown, South Dakota, formerly of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Paul Warnier officiating. Pallbearers will be Myron Johnson, Louis Sellden, Dick Young, Eugene Lundquist, Pete Mullenbach and Bruce Barker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bernitas grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Organist will be Sara Lee Rinke. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7th from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, and continue one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church. The Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton, Minnesota is in charge of arrangements. Bernita was born November 27, 1914 at Wheaton, Minnesota the daughter of Edward and Amelia Finke. She grew up in Traverse County and attended school in Walls Township. She was united in marriage to Paul Shuller on February 11, 1936 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dumont, Minnesota. When they were first married they lived south of Dumont, Minnesota. In 1940, they purchased a farm in Parnell Township and lived there until 1966 when they moved into Wheaton. She was a member of the Wheaton Community Hospital Auxiliary, St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, circle leader, choir member, co-leader of serving committee, taught Sunday school for twenty years at Zion Lutheran in Parnell Township. She loved quiltmaking, cooking and baking. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, word finds, attending auction sales, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing cards, especially with her condo friends. She was an avid walker and enjoyed picking up aluminum cans. She worked for numerous families in Wheaton as a house cleaner. She exhibited at the Traverse County Fair and won numerous Grand Champion prizes. She was known for her Christmas cookies and candy, and her scratch baked caramel rolls. She agreed to assisted living to be by family and moved to Stoney Brook Suites in Watertown, South Dakota in November of 2010. Bernita later moved to Golden Living Center in April of 2011 where she passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011. Bernita is survived by one daughter, Rita (Daryl) Washechek of Nemo, South Dakota, one son, Randy (Lorraine) Shuller of Watertown, South Dakota, two sisters: Fern Zabell of Wheaton, Minnesota and Gwendolyn (Arnold) Zockert of Pipestone, Minnesota, two brothers: Traverse (Algy) Finke of Marble, Minnesota and Francis Finke of Wheaton, Minnesota, grandchildren: Marilyn (Greg) Lucken of Sioux City, Iowa, Tom (Chelle) Bisek of New Effington, South Dakota, Stefanie (Brandon) Haack of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Nathan (Casey) Shuller of Watertown, South Dakota and Amber Shuller of Watertown, South Dakota, great-grandchildren: Jake Grinberg, Erin Grinberg, Mason Haack, Makenzie Haack and Abbey Shuller, and many nieces and nephews. Bernita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, brothers: Henry, Edward, Martin and Lyle, and sisters: Mary, Violet, Caroline and Hazel.
