Betty Nan Goodnough was born on February 23, 1932 to Jay and Clara (Gunderson) Goodnough in Bowman, North Dakota. Her family moved to Bagley, Minnesota in 1935, where she graduated high school in 1950. She was united in marriage to Ray Kvale on February 2, 1951. They moved to Herman, Minnesota where they raised their family.
Betty was a Herman Norcross school cook for thirty years. She was a talented musician who loved playing the piano and singing, she enjoyed daily cross word puzzles, quilting and was an avid reader. Betty was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Betty's most precious possessions were her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children: Paul Kvale of Bemidji, MN; Scott Kvale of Herman, MN; Kurt (Clare) Kvale of Duluth, MN; and Sue (Mark) Amundson of Herman, MN; nine grandchildren: Chris Kvale, Carl Kvale, Kate Blanc, Sara Kvale, Ian Kvale, Sam Kvale, Megan Kvale, Jay Amundson and Cassi Nohl; fourteen great-grandchildren: Trent, Cash, Saylor, Keaton, Flora, Stella, Taylor, Tana Rae, Clara, Brynn, Parker, Easton, Aela and Waylon; and one sister Dori Joffroy of Los Angeles, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Ray Gene Kvale; parents: Jay and Clara Goodnough; brothers: Lyle Goodnough and Cecil Goodnough; and sister Arlys Balik.
