Brad Kohls, age 51, of Buffalo Lake, MN, formerly of Wheaton, MN, passed away due to complications from diabetes on September 23, 2020, and joined his Heavenly Father. He was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN with Rev. Gerald Goetz officiating.
Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Pallbearers will be Jake Kohls, Ben Kohls, Sam Kohls, Brent Kohls, Jaxton Henning and Kelly Raguse. Honorary Pallbearers will be his co-workers at CRC.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church.
While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is required. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting is available in most situations.
Bradley Orval Kohls was born on September 19, 1969 in Danube, Minnesota to Orval and Gayle Kohls. Brad was baptized at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Danube and confirmed at St John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota.
Brad graduated from Wheaton High School in 1988. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball which led him to try out for the Minnesota Twins! Brad attended Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN and transferred to North Dakota State University graduating with an Ag-Economics degree in 1994.
Brad married Amy Terhaar in 1994 and together they had three sons. Brad lived for his boys: Jake, Ben and Sam. He loved traveling with them, going on great fishing trips, attending sporting events, going out to dinner and watching their brotherly shenanigans. He was incredibly proud of his boys. Brad admired Jake’s kindness and service to Americorps. He loved watching Ben and Sam’s football games and was looking forward to watching them play at the University of South Dakota.
Brad worked in the grain industry for many years. He most recently worked at Central Region Cooperative in Buffalo Lake, MN where he was the grain merchandising manager. He made many friends throughout his lifetime and had a great sense of humor and quick wit. In the last few years he enjoyed the company of Margaret Liebl. They enjoyed spending time together and traveling to different places.
Brad is survived by his sons: Jake, Ben and Sam Kohls of Sioux Falls, SD; parents Orval and Gayle Kohls of Wheaton, MN; brother Brent (Jennifer) Kohls of Mayville, ND; nieces: Jerica (Charlie) Lahlum of Glyndon, MN; Abigayle, Julia and Lauren Kohls and nephew Jaxton Henning of Valley City, ND; great niece Jerzy Lahlum; great nephews: Ryatt and Barrett Lahlum; and special friend Margaret Liebl of Fairfax, MN.
Brad was preceded in death by his brother Barry Henning.
