Funeral Services for Carl Shuller will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10th, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN. Dr. Howard Jording will officiate. Carl passed away Tuesday evening at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN after a hospital stay of three weeks and was unable to recover from two major surgeries. Pallbearers are Tod Franklin, Anthony Franklin, Bill Hagen, Richard Thomsen, Brian Thomsen, and David Thomsen. Interment will be at the Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. Carl Shuller was born on May 2,1915 in the Dumont area, the son of Oscar and Louise Shuller. He had one brother, Paul Shuller and one sister, Viola Fleischer. Carl was in the United States Army during World War II and served as an auto mechanic. During his years in the service and was stationed in Texas and in Germany. While in Germany he was under the command of General Patton. He even fixed General Patton's personal automobile many times, Carl married Ann Thomsen on June 8,1941 and they were married for 56 years before he lost Ann to a tragic accident in 1997. He worked and lived in the Wheaton area all of his life and had his own auto mechanic shop for many years until retiring at age 62. Carl and Ann adopted and raised a daughter, ReNae Shuller Franklin. He was blessed with a very long life and his hobbies were making quilts and collecting and listening to music. For the last 8 years Carl lived in the Minneapolis area to be closer to his family and for the last 2 years lived at The Regent of Burnsville, an assisted living facility. Although he was not in need of any assistance and lived independently, he was well liked and they referred to him as the music man. He would take his handicapped scooter outside every afternoon and would play his music for the residents of the Regent that wanted to join him. They adored him and looked forward to his music. He loved his apartment and had many friends that he enjoyed eating with everyday. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, his parents, and his sister and brother. Car! is survived by his daughter, ReNae Franklin of Lakeville, Bill Hagen, a very close friend to ReNae, and three grandsons: Tod (Michele) Franklin, Anthony Franklin, and Bradley (Shelly) Wilkening, four great grandchildren, Hailey, Brody, Josie and Jena.
