Cleone Marie Siegel

Cleone Siegel, age 82, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Wheaton, Minnesota.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. Time of Sharing Service at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton.

A Private Family burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton at a later date.

Cleone was born May 26, 1941 to Edmund and Roselyn (Laubach) Deutsch in Sisseton, South Dakota. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Church in Eden, SD on August 7, 1942.  Cleone attended school in Sisseton, SD. As the second oldest child of the family, Cleone spent a great amount of time helping care for her younger siblings and learning how to cook and bake. She was a tremendous pie baker.

On May 31, 1957, Cleone was united in marriage to the love of her life and dance partner Laurel Siegel from Wheaton, MN. The couple raised four children – Timothy, Laurie, Shaun and Joel. In 1960, Laurel and Cleone purchased a house in Wheaton and spent many years making it a beautiful home where many family gatherings have been held. In 1970, Laurel and Cleone opened Siegel’s Fabric and Floor covering. Cleone spent many years working in the store and assisting Laurel and Tim when needed.

Cleone was a very proud mother of her four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended numerous events in support of them throughout the years.

Cleone was a very passionate person. She had been known to have “spirited” conversations with her family, friends, and many others. Everybody that met her, remembered her, and all for different reasons. You absolutely knew where you stood with Cleone as she was not shy about telling you. Cleone was also great at keeping tabs on all of the going-ons in Wheaton. She seemed to know about everyone and everything that was happening in her community. 

Cleone is survived by her two sons: Tim Siegel of Wheaton, MN and Joel (Greta) Siegel of Alexandria, MN; Daughter-in-law Lisa (Daniel) Zahl of Wheaton, MN; Grandchildren: Matt Wahl, Kerry Wahl, Emily (Brian) Wahl, Tylor, Grace and Jack Siegel, Landon Siegel, and Isaac and Laurel Siegel; and four great-grandchildren: Hunter and Gavin Wahl and Kaitlynn and Kianna Wahl; Sister, Mary Jo Oien of Sisseton, SD, and four brothers: Patrick Deutsch Sr. of Sisseton, SD, Roger (Sue) Deutsch of Parker, SD, Terry (Cheryl) Deutsch of Sisseton, SD, and Scott (Marie) Deutsch of Sisseton, SD; and sister-in-law Sylvia Deutsch of Sisseton, SD.

Cleone was preceded in death by her husband and dance partner, Laurel; son, Shaun; daughter, Laurie; her parents; granddaughter, Amber Wahl; brother, Harley Deutsch; infant sister, Rose Marie; and brother in-law Richard Oien.
