A Graveside Service for Major Craig Kracht will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Dumont, Minnesota with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Merton Dale American Legion Post #80. Refreshment will be served following the service at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Funeral Services for Craig Allan Kracht, age 54, of Fargo, North Dakota were held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota with Rev. David Wagner officiating. Soloist was Kim Wagner. Pallbearers were Kyle Kracht, Lance Kracht, Lucas Kracht, Eli Kracht, Richard Dinger and David Luebke. Craig was born February 3, 1960 to Quinton and Nancy Kracht in Wheaton, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Dumont, Minnesota. He graduated from Wheaton High School in 1978. He attended Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, graduating with degrees in Psychology and Spanish in 1982. While at Concordia he played trombone in the Jazz Ensemble. Craig was a cadet at R.O.T.C., N.D.S.U. Fargo, North Dakota. In 1982 he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He earned an Air Assault Badge at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He was Company Commander in 25th Light Infantry Division - known as "Tropic Lightning" at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He served with distinction at the U.S. Central Command, Florida during Desert Storm. In his work as Intelligence Analyst, he was credited with saving numerous allied lives during the liberation of Kuwait. He had degrees in: International Relations, Troy State, Alabama; Doctor of Chiropractic's, Normandale College, Minnesota; Nursing, NDSCS, North Dakota. He was honorably discharged from U.S. Army Reserves with rank of Major. Craig passed away December 18, 2014 at his residence in Fargo, North Dakota. Craig loved his God, his family and his country. Craig is survived by a Son Kyle of Eagan, Minnesota; Parents Quinton and Nancy Kracht of Wheaton, Minnesota; brother Lance (Nancy Jo) Kracht of Wheaton; Aunt Mayme (Kracht) Sercu of California; nieces and nephews Lauren, Bailey, Lucas and Eli Kracht. Craig was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Marguerite (Devitt) Stanley and paternal grandparents Fred and Meta (Tietgen) Kracht.
