Curtis Whaley

Curt Whaley, age 67, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Monday, November 30, 2020, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Curtis Lee Whaley was born in Wheaton, MN on January 4, 1953. He was the first of seven children born to Duane and Irene (Stoick) Whaley. Curt attended Wheaton High school and was a lifelong member of the community of Wheaton.

Curt started his own business, Whaley Plumbing, in 1983. He was outstanding in his occupation and was a natural in his trade. Prior to his plumbing profession, Curt worked for Culligan for several years.

Curt had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He made friends easily and was quick to help others in need. When he wasn’t up to his elbows in a plumbing job, Curt enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching his favorite sports teams – the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins (naturally).

Curt married the love of his life, Becky White, on June 4, 1979, and they had four children.

Curtis is survived by his mother, Irene Whaley (Stoick) of Wheaton, MN; his children: Shane Jefferson of Wahpeton, ND;  Tanya Whitman (Mike) of Peyton, CO;  Sonya Frisch (Todd) of Dumont, MN; and Stephen Whaley (Danielle) of Fargo, ND; his siblings: Darwin Whaley (Carol) of St. Michael, MN: Kathy Cottingham (Carey) of Sioux Falls, SD: Kristi Nelson (Larry) of Rapid City, SD: Myrna Westby (Curtis) of Lead, SD: Cindy Whaley of Lincroft, NJ: Marcy Lewis (Dave) of Rosholt, SD; Honorary sister Annette Roldan of Freehold, NJ; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Whaley (White); his father, Duane Whaley; his niece, Karilyn Cottingham; and his grandparents.

A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton, MN with Rev Gerold Goetz officiating.  Burial to be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton, MN.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for funeral services. The use of face masks by attendees is required. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, a live stream and recording of the service will be available at the bottom of this page.
