Funeral Mass for Darlene Wieser, age 82, of Dumont, Minnesota will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton with Fr. Stanley Wieser and Fr. Joe Vandeberg Celebrants. Organist will be Cindy Sanasack with special music provided by the Ave Maria Catholic Church Choir. Pallbearers will be "Honorary Grandchildren": Mitch Frisch, Shawn Frisch, Bob Frisch, Tom Frisch, Jennifer Lickness and Suzanne Whaley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the "Dumont Community". Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Dumont. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, May 1, 2014 at Ave Maria Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation will continue Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. Darlene (Zabell) Wieser was born on November 11, 1931 to Herman and Mary (Fridgen) Zabell in Graceville, Minnesota. She lived in Dumont where she attended eight years of school and then graduated high school in Wheaton. Darlene married Alfred "Ferd" Wieser on July 9, 1953 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dumont. To this union a daughter, Mary Jo was born. Darlene worked at the Ford garage in Wheaton as a bookkeeper. After that Ferd and Darlene owned Wieser Hardware until Ferd's death in 2005. It was the only hardware store where the key was hung over the door and you just went in and wrote down what you bought. Darlene also owned the Dumont Café for many years and was famous for her turkey Thursday. Darlene was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family very much. She was grandma to a lot of extra kids in town and mom to many others. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Dumont and then Ave Maria in Wheaton. Darlene enjoyed going to Battle Lake where she met up with her lake friends and family. She loved playing smear and was a social butterfly. Darlene went into Grace Home in July of 2013. She enjoyed her time with family, friends and received great care there. Darlene passed away at Grace Home on April 26, 2014. Darlene is survived by her daughter Mary Jo (Andy) Young of Dumont; granddaughter Tana (Topher) Riddle; grandsons: Dustin (Destiny) Young and Brady (Sarah) Young; great-grandchildren: Carter Lee, Lily Riddle, Harper and Ferris Young. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Alfred "Ferd", parents Herman and Mary Zabell, sister Mary, brother Gilbert, and great-grandson Easton Riddle.
