Darrel Herrmann

Darrel Herrmann, age 63, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria, Minnesota.

A Private Family Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March, 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Cheryl Berg officiating.

A Public Visitation will be held Friday, March 5th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is required. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, a live stream and recording of the service will be available at the bottom of this page.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, White Rock, South Dakota. Pallbearers will be Jacob Schmitz, Randy Schmitz, Greg VanHorn, Patrick Bair, Doyle Anderson and Daryl Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrel’s friends and family.

Darrel Herrmann was born June 24, 1957 to June and Arnold “Bud” Herrmann. He grew up in the Wheaton and White Rock areas and attended Wheaton Area Schools where he graduated in 1975. He attended Alexandria Technical College after high school and graduated in 1977 with a degree in parts sales. He was united in marriage to Darcy Nelson in 1985.  They were married for fourteen years and had their daughter Dana in 1994. In his younger years he enjoyed playing amateur softball for the Lundquist Seed team as their first baseman. He also enjoyed participating in bowling leagues.

Darrel worked for the city of Wheaton beginning in 1980, and he loved the community he worked for and the coworkers that he had by his side. Darrel was a hardworking man, but when he wasn’t working, he loved to hunt, fish, and just spend time outdoors. He was a longtime member of the Traverse County Sportsman’s Club and served as a board member for many years. Family and friends meant everything to Darrel, and he cherished every moment with them.

Darrel is survived by his daughter Dana Herrmann (Jordan Aalgaard) of Wheaton; his mother June Herrmann of Wheaton; sister Linda Herrmann of Wheaton; and brother Craig (Kari) Herrmann and their children Riley and Rachel of Woodbury, Minnesota.

Darrel was preceded in death by his father and infant sister Sharon.
