David H. Danzeisen, age 74, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Twin Valley Living Center in Twin Valley, Minnesota. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, Minnesota with Rev. David Hanssen officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. Military Rites will be provided by the Herman American Legion Post #378. David Henry (Smith) Danzeisen was born March 6, 1941 to Grant and Barbara (Blees) Smith of Donnelly, MN. He was adopted as a child by his step-father Alvah Danzeisen of Herman. He graduated from Herman High School in 1960 and worked in the Herman-Donnelly area for several farmers. In 1963 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and was stationed on the U.S.S. Oriskany as an M.P. off the shores of Vietnam. For his service David received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Expert Badge for M-14 Rifle and Sharpshooter Badge for .45 Cal. Pistol. After an honorable discharge in 1967, Dave became a cross-country trucker while living in North Carolina. He later moved back to Minnesota where he continued driving truck for Wilrich of Wahpeton, ND and Jacobson's in Wheaton, MN. After retiring from long distance trucking, Dave worked for New Horizons in Herman. Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing and took several trips to Alaska and Wyoming with his Smith cousins. David is survived by three sons: Mike and Grant of North Carolina; and Chad (Shannon) of Dalton; six siblings: Emilie (Ken) Bergmann of Lakeville MN; Jerry (Brenda) Danzeisen of Sierra Vista, AZ; Bob (Carol) Danzeisen of Herman, MN; Bonnie (Ken) Kaseforth of Bloomington, MN; Monica Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; Alvie Danzeisen of Chokio, MN; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents Alvah and Barbara Danzeisen and his birth father Grant Smith.
