Funeral Service for Deborah Jean Zastrow, 63, of Brandon, Minnesota was held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Minnesota. Deby was born on July 18, 1948 in Graceville, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm just south of Wheaton, Minnesota where she spent the first three years of school in Dumont, Minnesota and then transferred to Wheaton Public School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dumont, Minnesota. She graduated in 1966 from Wheaton High School and moved to Minneapolis shortly there after. Following her return home she was united in marriage to her soul mate, Scott David Zastrow, on July 8, 1967. After marriage they moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota. From Wahpeton they moved to Alexandria, Minnesota where they lived for approximately twenty six years. They have resided in Brandon, Minnesota for the past three years. She was very active in the community up to the time of her stroke with Luther Crest Bible Camp, Mount Carmel Camp, and had volunteered with the clean up of Hurricane Hugo as well as many other things. Her last place of employment was at the Alexandria Senior Center where she cooked some of the best meals and touched several lives. She was also involved with LWML (Lutheran Womens Missionary League) and Evening Guild both of Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Minnesota. Deby enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and traveling when she could. She devoted her life to Christ and spending time with family and friends. She is loved by all who knew her. Deborah is survived by her husband Scott Zastrow, daughter Kymberly (Jeremy) Wales both of Brandon, Minnesota, sons: David Zastrow of Ashby, Minnesota, Darin Zastrow, Steven Zastrow and Richard (Chelsea) Zastrow all of Brandon, Minnesota, Grandchildren: Breanna, Riley, Haddie, Brodey, Bailey, Brock, Michael, Mariah, Madison and Tristan Zastrow, Parents Gordon and Betty Jacobs of Wheaton, Minnesota, three sisters: Kaye (Jeff) Norton of Wheaton, Tammie (Terry) Finke of Valley Springs, South Dakota and Nancy Herrin (fiance Don Johnson) of Valley Springs, South Dakota, two brothers: Gary Jacobs of Graceville, Minnesota and Brad (Joetta) Jacobs of Wheaton, Minnesota and mother-in-law Phyllis Zastrow of Alexandria, Minnesota, brother-in-laws Jack (Linda) Zastrow, Kenny (Marilyn) Zastrow, Dale (Ilene) Zastrow, one sister-in-law, Judy (John) Hennen. Deborah was preceded in death by grandparents Frank and Hilda Jacobs, Max and Irene Walz, father-in-law Egner Zastrow, sister-in-law Beverly Jacobs and nephew Ryan Jacobs.
