Donald Neuman

Funeral Services for Donald Owen Neuman were Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota. Pastor Tom Olson officiated. Visitation was held Friday evening at the Ranney Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Roger Johnson, Dean Monson, Randy Benson, LeMoyne Bock, Gerald Best, Robin Siegel, Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Traverse County Historical Society. Interment was at the Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton with full Military Rites. Donald passed away Wednesday morning, August 19, at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. He was 85 years old. Don was born April 19, 1924 in Traverse County to Robert and Grace (Owen) Neuman. Don attended Wheaton High School. Following his schooling, Don joined the Army and fought in World War Two. He was a member of the Wheaton American Legion until his death. Shortly after the war, Donald married a local girl, Rosella Johnson, on March 23, 1947 in Sisseton, South Dakota. Don and Rosella lived their entire life in the Wheaton area and raised their family of three boys there. Don farmed most of his life, but also did some trucking for local businesses. Don was a charter member of the Traverse County Historical Society, for which he spent many hours of volunteer work. After retirement Don and Rosella spent many winters in Florida where they enjoyed meeting friends year after year. He was a loving husband and father. He always loved to tell a joke to brighten someones day. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring old toys. Don had a great love for old cars. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Donald is survived by three sons: Bob Neuman of Woodbury, Minnesota, Dale and Debra Neuman of Saginaw, Minnesota, James and Loretta Neuman of Ashby, four grandchildren: Bryan and Jaclyn Neuman, Darrin Neuman, Danielle Neuman, and Gennie Neuman. Don was preceded in death by his wife Rosella on May 8, 2004.
