Donald F. Novak, 69, Flint, Michigan, formerly of Wheaton, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2014 at McLaren Hospital, Flint, Michigan, surrounded by his family. Donald was born at Breckenridge, MN., on August 31, 1944 and was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Campbell, Mn. He grew up on the family farm near Tenney, Mn., and attended rural School District #44 and Tintah Public School. In 1960, he moved with his family to Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1962. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return to Wheaton, he married and became the father of three children, David, Daniel, and Sheryl. He moved to the Twin Cities and became a successful businessman, being co-owner of T.R.C., in New Hope, Mn. In 2000, he moved to Findlay, Ohio, and then on to Flint Michigan where he worked for Days Inn of Flint. He lived in Flint until his death. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many hunting trips to Canada. He also loved the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and all sports in general. He is survived by his wife, Paula of Flint, children, David, Daniel and Sheryl, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brother, Dawayne (Marlene) of Plymouth, Mn., a sister, Geraldine of New Hope, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Leona Novak of Wheaton, and a baby sister. A celebration of life will held on August 16 at the Tiburon Clubhouse, 3399 Pilgrim Lane, Plymouth, from 1 to 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held on August 31st at the Riverside Cemetery at Campbell at 1:30 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the McLaren Cancer Institute Hospitality House in Flint, Michigan. Arrangements were made by the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home in Flint, MI and the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton, MN.
