Funeral Service for Dorothy Drinkwitz, age 94, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating. Organist will be Cheryl Shekleton with special music provided by Dennis Johnson. Pallbearers will be Dorothy's grandsons: Ryan Drinkwitz, Kiel Drinkwitz, Brad Wolbersen, Larry Swanson, LeeRoy Ruona and Scott Ruona. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dorothy's granddaughters: Lori Rogers, Susan Flogstad, Jody Miller and Dorothy's great and great-great grandchildren. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 19th from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Bethlehem Covenant Church. Visitation will continue Saturday afternoon one hour prior to service time at the church. Dorothy Lillian Mossberg was born September 6, 1920 in Wheaton, Minnesota to Gust and Agnes (Nelson) Mossberg. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at Zion Mission Church and attended Wheaton High School graduating in 1939. During her high school junior/senior years she worked as a waitress at the cafe in Wheaton. Dorothy married her sweetheart Joe Drinkwitz on April 2, 1942 at Fort Meade, South Dakota where Joe was stationed with the US Army. Joe was transferred to Texas by the military and then Dorothy worked as a nanny for a family until their first child, Jean was born. After Joe finished his time with the Army they moved back to Minnesota to the family farm west of Wheaton. Three more children were born; Kathy, Stan and Janice. Dorothy enjoyed doing embroidery, plastic and bead crafts, playing cards, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a great cook for her family and church friends, even though her stove didn't work on weekends! Dorothy was a member of the Bethlehem Covenant Church where she belonged to Covenant Women, the ladies circle, and was a Deaconess. Dorothy passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. Dorothy is survived by her children: Kathy (Bob) Wolbersen of Morris, Minnesota; Stan (Mary) Drinkwitz of Wheaton; and Janice (Bob) Miller of St. Paul, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, daughter Jean, sisters: Elsa, Mamie, Mabel, Mildred, Elphild, infant sister Adele, and brother Willard.
