Edith Eldridge

Funeral services for Edith Mae Eldridge, 94, of Browns Valley, MN, will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at United Methodist & Presbyterian Church, Browns Valley, MN, with Pastor Abigail Ozanne officiating. Special music will be provided by Blake Steiner (ten year old great-grandson).

Burial to be held at rural Lakeview Cemetery in Traverse County, a few miles from where they farmed. Honorary urn bearers will be all of Edith's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the United Methodist & Presbyterian Church one hour prior to the service.

Edith was born August 21, 1924, to Elmer and Irene Bruce in Taylor Township, MN. She grew up on a farm near White Rock, SD and attended school in Wheaton, MN. On September 4, 1943 she married Stewart Eldridge. After their marriage they resided on the Eldridge homestead in rural Beardsley, MN where they raised dairy cattle and chickens. They were blessed with five children: Linda, Cathy, Allen, Roger and Pat.

When Stewart and Edith retired they sold their farm and moved to Browns Valley, MN. After Stewart's death on May 27, 1998, Edith continued to sell eggs in the community as well as continued her love for mowing lawns. Edith enjoyed preparing large family meals, puzzles and tinkering around on her John Deere mowers. She had a love for animals as could be seen with her two dogs Penny and Princess.

Edith passed away on Friday September 21, 2018 at Browns Valley Health Center. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Edith is survived by her children: Linda Roob of Breckenridge, MN; Cathy (Richard) Espeseth of South St. Paul, MN; Allen Eldridge of Maple Wood, MN; and Pat Fryer of Pierre, SD; daughter in law Arlene Miller Eldridge of Peever, SD; eleven grandchildren: Lori (Brian) Tix, Greg Roob, Marc Roob, Adam (Bethany) Roob, Andrew (Amanda) Roob, Bethany Espeseth, Heather (Kris) Faeth, Michael (Misty) Fryer, Jon Fryer, and Erica (Brandon) Steiner; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stewart; her parents Elmer and Irene Bruce; one son Roger; her five siblings: Marvin, Edgar, Richard, Jim and Peggy; son-in-law Ambrose Roob; and one grandson Brad Roob.
