Funeral Service for Edmund John Wieser, 93, of Herman, Minnesota will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, Minnesota with Fr. Peter VanderWeyst and Fr. Stan Wieser officiating. Pallbearers will be Vernon Haack, Aaron Janisch, Andy Janisch, Chuck Vigilante, Tom Wieser and Jim Doll. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edmunds Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and his Great-Great-Grandson. Organist will be Marilyn Backman with special music provided by Mike and Kathie Larson. Interment will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, rural Herman. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a 6:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Ranney Funeral Chapel in Herman. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church Monday. Edmund was born February 11, 1917 in Humphrey, Nebraska the son of Frank and Frieda (Foltz) Wieser. The family moved to Fairmount, North Dakota in 1923 where Edmund attended school. After his education, Edmund began farming. He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Deal) Wieser on November 19, 1941 at the Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton. They farmed in the Wheaton area where their three children were born. In 1956, they purchased a farm near Herman where they farmed until their retirement. Edmund was on the Logan Township Board for many years, and the Herman Market Board of Directors. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Edmund passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the West Wind Nursing Home in Morris, Minnesota. Edmund is survived by his wife: Phyllis of Herman, Minnesota, one son: Rodney of Herman, Minnesota and one daughter: Jean (Darrel) Janisch of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, five grandchildren: Vernon (Carole) Haack, Jill (Chuck) Vigilante, Aaron (Michelle) Janisch, Andy Janisch and Angela (Dave) OBrien, nine great-grandchildren: William, Steven, Ethan and Josh Bratton, Rochelle Isaacson, Stephanie Haack, Ethan, Rhett and Reece Janisch and one great-great-grandson: Caleb Isaacson, one brother: Cyril (Lorraine) Wieser of Trenton, Illinois, four sisters: Margaret Adams and Bernadine Doll both of Graceville, Minnesota, Anna Gilsdorf of Wheaton, Minnesota, and Rita (Merle) Escher of Dumont, Minnesota, three sisters-in-law: Bernice Bohnenstingl of Wheaton, Minnesota, Genrose and Darlene Wieser both of Dumont, Minnesota, son-in-law: Emil Haack of Hoffman, Minnesota, one brother-in-law: Jerry (Frances) Deal of Wheaton, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Dolores, five brothers: Sylvester, Robert, Gerhard, Jerome and Alfred, two sisters: Mary Ann Arens and Brigette Roob, eight brothers-in-law: Ambrose Roob, Marion Adams, John Doll, Gilbert Gilsdorf, Robert Arens, John Swanke, Leonard Erickson and George Dawes, five sisters-in-law: Margaret Wieser, Tony Wieser, Margaret Erickson, Bernadine Swanke and Alvera Dawes.
