Eleanor Jarrells

Memorial Services for Eleanor Jarrells, 89, of Shoreview, Minnesota, formerly of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Friday July 6th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Way in Shoreview, Minnesota with Pastor Anita Cummings officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday July 7th at 11:30 a.m. at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton Minnesota. Eleanor G. Swanke was born April 19th, 1923 in Wheaton, Minnesota to Ernest and Jenny Swanke. She grew up in the Wheaton area, graduating in 1941. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Jarrells on January 20, 1942 in Onamia, Minnesota. While Lloyd served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in Texas the couple lived in San Antonio. Eleanor returned to Wheaton while he was stationed overseas in India. The couple made their home in Wheaton after Lloyds return. Eleanor lived in and raised her three children, William, Norman, and Peggy, in Wheaton. She worked at Standard Lumber Company and then Lake State Telephone from which she retired. While living and raising her family in Wheaton, Eleanor was active in Circles at the First Presbyterian Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and Wives of the Wheaton Fire Department. She loved golfing, traveling, camping, playing bridge, and spending time with her family. She and Lloyd enjoyed square dancing and snowmobiling. Eleanor was known by her friends and family for her excellent baking and cooking skills. Eleanor and Lloyd spent many years traveling around the country in their RV, enjoying the scenery and meeting new friends. During their travels they were lucky enough to visit all 50 states, and most of the Canadian provinces. In 2000, she and Lloyd sold their home in Wheaton and moved to Shoreview, Minnesota where she lived until her death. Eleanor is survived by her sons William (Lynn Larson) of Ramsey, MN and Norman (Mary) of Columbia, SC, daughter Peggy Hedback (John) of Shoreview, MN, grandchildren Tony Jarrells (Gretchen) of Columbia, SC, Tim Jarrells of Westhaven, CA, Paul Jarrells (Beverlee) of Longmont, CO, Brian Jarrells (Nicole) of St. Paul, MN, Jennifer Knutson (Josh) of Rosemount, MN, David Jarrells of Estes Park, CO, Janine Hedback of St. Paul, MN, Phillip Hedback of Chicago, IL, Steven Hedback of Tacoma, WA, 6 great grandchildren Isabelle Rohde, Owen Rohde, Brittani Jarrells, Gabriel Jarrells, Kyli Knutson, and Luke Knutson. She is also survived by a brother, William Swanke (Lucille) Wheaton, MN. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents Ernest and Jenny Swanke, her sisters Frances Swanke and Margarette Backman, her brothers Chris and John Swanke, and her daughter in law Martha Jarrells.
