Funeral Service for Ella A. Buss, age 97, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, formerly of Barrett, Minnesota will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Eden Reformed Church in Herman, Minnesota with Rev. Ted Graf officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 28th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service at the Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Home in Herman. Visitation will continue Saturday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman. Ella was born September 13, 1916 in Ellsworth, MN to Dick and Amka (Haagestraat) Aeilts. As a child she lived on farms at Kanaranzi and Magnolia. When her family stopped farming, they moved back to Ellsworth where she graduated from the eighth grade. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. She was an active member of the church. On January 27, 1938 she was married to Albert Buss at the Presbyterian manse by Rev. K.W. Schalk. They farmed five miles north of Ellsworth until 1946. They purchased a farm at Barrett, MN and moved there in March of 1947. Due to the ill health of her husband they moved to Fergus Falls in 1987 and lived next to their daughter. Albert passed away on March 27, 1989. Ella was a member of the Eden Reformed Church of Herman, where she was an active member. She taught Sunday School, Release Time, was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Church Choir. Ella was the last surviving member of her family. Ella passed away peacefully Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Braen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. Ella is survived by her daughter Marjean Class of Fergus Falls, MN; four sons: Leroy (Dorothy) of Irene, SD; Albert (Laurie) formerly of Morris, MN; Eugene (Agnes) of Joelton, TN; and Orlyn (Val Jean) of Barrett, MN; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law Gladys Buss of Lismore, MN; Alice Buss of Luverne, MN; and Vernell Aeilts of Conway, AR. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, two sisters, a brother and sister in infancy, one grand-daughter Junell Johnston and one great grandson Dustin Swensen.
