Esther Walz

Funeral Service for Esther Vera Walz, 99, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 7th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Esther Vera Walz was born November 28, 1907 in Traverse County to Helmuth and Julia (Menge) Berneking. Esther was baptized in Parnell Township and was confirmed at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dumont, Minnesota. She attended rural county school in District 6. On June 14, 1928 she married Ewald Walz at Parnell Township. She worked as a homemaker and farm wife and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and playing cards. They farmed until 1969 when they moved into Wheaton. In 1991, she moved to the Browns Valley Health Center where she resided until the time of her death on August 30, 2007. Esther was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton and was active in Ladies Aid, Lutheran Social League and Circle. Esther is survived by her grandchildren: Todd (Marcia) Peterson of Wheaton and Corla (Gary) Enevoldsen of Montevideo, Minnesota, Son-in-law: Allen Peterson of Wheaton, and four great-grandchildren: Julie and Lisa Peterson & Curtis and Megan Enevoldsen. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Ewald in 1991, her Daughter: Mayme Jane in 1998.
