Ethelyn Johnson

Ethelyn L. Johnson, age 95, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minnesota.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Ken Bowman officiating.

Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Pallbearers will be her Larson nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday morning.

Ethelyn Elsie Larson was born on March 2, 1923 outside of White Rock, South Dakota to Elmer and Julia (Anderson) Larson. The oldest of six children, she attended White Rock Public School through the eighth grade. She was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church, White Rock, SD. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1941. She moved to Minneapolis to attend the Minnesota School of Business. She worked for thirteen years for Sexton Insurance Agency.

Ethelyn married Rodney L. Johnson on February 4, 1949 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She and Rodney moved to Wheaton in 1955 and Ethelyn worked at the State Bank of Wheaton until the birth of their daughter Leann in 1957. Son Stuart was born in 1960. While her children were young, Ethelyn was a stay at home mom until her children were of school age. Later she worked part time for the Traverse County Assessors Office. She was active in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and was an active member of women's organizations and circle throughout the years. She was a member of the Women's Study Club. After Rodney died in 1992, Ethelyn enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout the United States and internationally with family and friends.

Ethelyn was preceded in death by her husband Rodney; infant daughter Marcia Jo; parents Elmer and Julia Larson; brothers Milton Larson and Leonard Larson; sister Esther Odland; brother-in-law Manley Odland; and sister-in-law Sharon Larson.

She is survived by daughter Leann Johnson (Sam Porritt) of Lawrence, Kansas; son Stuart Johnson (Marla Conroy and son Jack Conroy) of Shoreview, Minnesota; sister Muriel (Pete) A'Bell of San Diego, California; brother Lionel "Ole" Larson of Wendover, Utah; sisters-in-law Opal Larson of Wheaton and Marion Larson of The Villages, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousin.
