Funeral Service for Lawrence Frank McTighe Sr. will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Herman American Legion. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in the Hegberg Cemetery, near Appleton, Minnesota. Frank was born on November 10, 1928 in Swift County MN. He grew up on a farmstead near Hegberg, MN, until his family moved to Appleton, MN. Frank was a strong Irishman, who loved his family and dog Lucy faithfully. He was a man of many trades " from working at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, to owning a race track to managing the Chokio Municipal Liquor Store, to farming with Charlie Berg, Orville and Wayne Brunkow. He had a distinguished military career, both in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Herman American Legion Post. Frank passed away peacefully on April 13, 2009, surrounded by beloved family. Frank is survived by his companion, Betty Schmidt of Herman; brothers Patrick (and Dorothy) McTighe of Appleton MN, Dean (and Liz) McTighe of Appleton MN,; children Ruth (and Bob) Kerstein of Dassel MN, Larry "Pee-Wee" (and Celeste) McTighe of Woodbury, MN, John McTighe of Fargo ND; grandchildren Kevin and Eric Kerstein of Litchfield MN, Eric Kerstein of Dassel, MN, and John James McTighe of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews,, cousins and wonderful friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick J and Elsie McTighe, his brothers Leo and Tommy McTighe, wife Wanda Zelle McTighe, and infant son James David McTighe.
