Garnette worked on the family farm doing whatever was necessary. She enjoyed horses, traveling, spending winters in Arizona, playing cards, fishing, cooking and entertaining, Garnette and John celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 27, 2011. Garnette and John retired from farming in 1998. By 2001, they moved from the farm to Wheaton, in 2007 they moved to Countryside Inn Assisted Living in Rosholt, SD and finally, in 2009 they moved to Traverse Care Center.
