Funeral Services for Gladys Minnie Mae Bruns will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Herman, MN. Pastor Mark Winther will officiate. Gladys died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Wheaton Community Hospital.Pallbearers will be Ed Bruns, Kenny Bruns, Mike Ogg, Jerold Itzen, Laurel Ogg, Joe Finlay Jr., Wally Giese and Leon Berger. Honorary Bearers are "All of Glady's many friends and relatives in Herman and Norcross." Visitation will be held Monday evening at the Ranney Funeral Chapel in Wheaton from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman, Minnesota. Gladys was 93 years old. Gladys Minnie Mae Olhoft was born July 13, 1913 to Bill and Ethel Olhoft in Sterling, Illinois. At a very young age she and her family moved to Minnesota. Gladys attended Corndale Country School in rural Norcross through the 8th grade. Gladys married Folkert Bruns on September 28, 1947 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Norcross. She spent her entire life in the Herman area. Gladys loved flowers, gardening, horses, and loved to play the organ and piano in the Faith United Methodist Church in Norcross where she played for over 50 years, and also taught Sunday School there. She was a member of the Rebekahs Lodge. Gladys loved to help Folkert in the field running a combine. She loved to cook and bake for her church and family. She always had time for her nieces and nephews, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her husband of 59 years: Folkert of Herman, Minnesota, one son: Lyndon (Jean) Bruns of Herman, two grandchildren: Carey (Tyson) Giese of Osakis, Minnesota, and Chad (Melody) Bruns of Herman, three great-grandchildren: Amber, Taylor & Jacey Giese, two great-step-grandchildren: Keith & Casandra Potts of Herman, Minnesota, two brothers: William Olhoft of Norcross & Vernon (Bubby) Olhoft also of Norcross, one sister: Alice Wycoff of Torrence, California, one brother-in-law: John (Garnette) Bruns of Wheaton, and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenneth, Barney & Walter Olhoft, and one sister Margaret Schultz.
