Harland Rasmussen

Funeral Services for Harland V. Rasmussen of Wheaton will be held Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Pastor Tom Olson will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Ranney Funeral Chapel in Wheaton, and 1 hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a private family interment service at a later date. Harland passed away Saturday evening, June 28, 2008 surrounded by his family at his home in Wheaton, after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. He was 75 years old. Harland was born March 16, 1933 in Revere, Minnesota to Victor and Florence (Harnack) Rasmussen. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1951. He then joined the army in June of 1952 and served in the Korean War until discharged in 1956. Harland met Beverly Paul in November of 1956. They were married in October of 1957 and resided in Richfield and Burnsville, Minnesota. They moved to Wheaton in 1972 and purchased R & V Auto Sales. Harland had many business ventures, including the management of the Town House Motel in Rapid City, South Dakota for 4 years before returning to Wheaton again. Harland was a great handyman and loved to read. He loved yard work and enjoyed his employment for several years at the Wheaton Country Club working on course maintenance. Harland is survived by his wife: Bev, 5 children: Lori (Andrew) Lawson of Spring, TX, Mark (Tami) Rasmussen of Lonsdale, Minnesota, Karen (Ward) Wallner of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Vicki (Chad) Goracke of Alexandria, Minnesota, Paul and his finance Deja Copeland, of Onalaska, Wisconsin, 11 grandchildren: Candice, Drew, Leyna, Tiffany, Ashley, Riley, Matthew, Alexander, Jeffrey, Derek, and McKenna. He is also survived by 5 sisters: Carol (Jerry) Osteraas, Lake Lillian, Minnesota, Anita (Darold) Ashton of Farmington, Minnesota, Lucille (Hans) Misvaer of Bloomington, Minnesota, Marion (Jim) Johnson of Sartell, Minnesota, and Susan (Rick) Hogan of Golden, Colorado.
