Harry Honzo

Harry Honzo, age 93, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Organist will be Theresa Thiel.

Visitation will be Saturday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Dumont, Minnesota.

Urn bearers will be Harry's grandchildren and honorary urn bearers will be Harry's great-grandchildren.

Harry James Honzo was born on December 13, 1922 in Graceville, MN. He was the son of James and Cora (Neil) Honzo. He was baptized on June 30, 1929 in Graceville and confirmed April of 1947 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont, MN. He went to West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN and graduated in 1942. He started farming and married Eileen Rinke on September 29, 1946 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont. They lived on a farm southeast of Dumont. Harry was a member of the Dollymount Township Board and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church Council.

Harry retired from farming and they moved to Wheaton in 1986. He and Eileen were volunteer drivers for Rainbow Rider, taking seniors to other towns. Harry was a volunteer worker at the Senior Center for many years. After the church closed in Dumont, Harry and Eileen became members at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton.

Harry enjoyed deer hunting and fishing trips with his friends for many years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, golfing, playing cards and collecting old tractors. Harry and Eileen enjoyed traveling together.

Harry is survived by his wife Eileen Honzo of Wheaton, MN; his children: Sandra (Bruce) Petterson of Dassel, MN; Kathy (Dennis) Suelflow of Sauk Centre, MN; Patty (Mike) Peyton of Wheaton, MN; and Holly (Steve) Wallgren of Alexandria, MN; grandchildren: Chad (Deanna) Petterson; Dean (Nancy) Suelflow; Amber (Chris) Hlvaka; Raku (Cullen) Schmitt; Adam (Natasha) Suelflow; Kelly Peyton; Kari (Aaron) Scheffler; great-grandchildren: Sydney, Summer and Skyler Hlvaka; Tanner, Gretta and Emmett Schmitt; Aiden and Brandon Suelflow; Logan and Kahlen Suelflow; and Jax Scheffler; his two sisters: Liela Fridgen of Wheaton, MN and Lois Taffe of Graceville, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clara Marie Honzo; Dorothy Baldry; Wilbert and Mary Rinke; Audrey and Carmon Jackson; Orval and Sarah Rinke; Helen and Mike Eastwood; and Mary Lou and Harry Olson.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents James and Cora Honzo; and his brother John Honzo.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
