Harvey Emanuel Sorensen was born April 29, 1938 in Lake Park, Iowa to Christian and Verna Sorensen.
At the age of thirteen months the family moved to rural Graceville, Minnesota. He grew up working on the family farm in Parnell Township. The family moved to Maysville, Missouri where Harvey spent his last four years of High School. He enjoyed playing football there and graduated in 1956.
After graduation Harvey moved back to Minnesota where he worked several jobs. His parents and five sisters soon followed. Harvey worked at the Wheaton Creamery and later owned his own trucking service picking up milk on several routes. He married Esther Schmidt in 1959. They had four children and bought a farm west of Wheaton where they enjoyed many years having a family run dairy farm, raising crops, cattle and horses. Harvey enjoyed being a care giver, and in 1975 added a home onto the farm for his parents, who enjoyed being able to be close to grandchildren.
Harvey enjoyed traveling, camping and the outdoors, taking his family on many trips throughout the continental United States. He especially enjoyed the scenic mountains and national parks.
Harvey loved family more than anything, organizing many family reunions for the Sorensen family throughout the years.
Harvey is preceded in death by parents Christian and Verna Sorensen, sister Ellen Hasse, and granddaughter Hope Tweten. He is survived by his wife Esther; sisters: Pauline Johnson, Shirley Arneson, Carol Ekberg, Marily Haack, children: Keith Sorensen (Sandy), Jody Carlson (Ron), Julie (Daniel) Wennnerberg, Karrey Tweten, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
