Hazel Bartz of New Hope, Minnesota, formerly of Herman, passed away Sunday at the North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis. Hazel was 106 years old. Funeral Services for Hazel Bartz will be held Friday, September 14, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Herman, Minnesota. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in rural Herman. There will be visitation 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the Church. Hazel was born December 19, 1900 in Glena, Illinois, but she grew up in Colorado and South Dakota. She attended St. Cloud Teachers College. Hazel taught school for many years devoting much of her time to her children. Hazel was an active member of OES, The American Legion Auxiliary, her Church and her Community. At age 95 she moved from Herman to Crystal, MN to be closer to her family. Hazel Bartz is survived by 5 sons and their wives: Dale and Linda of Kirkland, WA, Lowell and Betty of Billings, MT, George Harold and Marlene of Midland, MI, Gene and Arliss of Crystal, MN, Ron and Frances of Roseville, MN, 1 sister: Ellen Elgin of Seattle, WA, 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband George in 1978, her parents: George Bowden and Cora Sayles, sisters: Gladys and Violetta, and brothers: Glen, Harold, Roscoe and Claire.
