Funeral Service for Helen Marie Thompson were held on Monday, December 12, 2005 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, Minnesota with Rev. Roger Rotvold officiating. Pallbearers were Alvin Johnson, Dennis Satre, Tom Satre, Stan Harstad, Palmer Harstad, and LeRoy Anderson. Organist was Kathy Rotvold. Special music was provided by Rev. Roger and Kathy Rotvold. Interment was in Lands Cemetery, rural Hoffman, Minnesota. Visitation was held on Sunday, December 11, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, and one hour prior to services on Monday. The Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton and Herman, Minnesota was in charge of arrangements. Helen was born in rural Hoffman, Minnesota on August 7, 1922 to Carl and Anna (Johnson) Satre. She attended school in rural Hoffman until the 8th grade. On November 29, 1936 she was confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Hoffman. In 1943, she attended a vocational trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota completing a course in machine tool operation and blueprint reading. In Elbow Lake, Minnesota she was united in marriage to Henry Franklin Thompson. They lived in Donnelly, Minnesota where Helen worked at the egg plant. In 1966, they moved to Herman, Minnesota and lived there until she went to the Good Samaritan Center in Hoffman in March of 2005. Helen loved taking care of the elderly as she worked at the Villa of St. Francis in Morris for 12 years as a health aid. Helen enjoyed doing cross word puzzles, quilting and making those special caramel rolls for her family. Helen passed away at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Wednesday, December 7, 2005. Helen is survived by four children: Carolyn (Terry) Smith of San Felipe, Mexico, Darold Thompson of Herman, Paulette (Lyle) Fiebelkorn of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Paul (Nancy) Thompson of Herman, seven grandchildren: Chad (Stephanie) Smith, Kevin (Cyndy) Smith, Kyle (Katie) Fiebelkorn, Tonya (William) Bennis, Jeremiah Thompson, Laura (Nick) Lehman and Jill Thompson, Six great-grandchildren: Kaden Fiebelkorn, Wyatt Bennis, Courtney Lehman, Santiago Escamilla, Camille Bennis, and Sonjia Smith, three sisters-in-law: Selma Bruse, Elnora Bevins, and Viola Thompson. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters: Doris Satre and Esther Anderson, three brothers: Ellsworth, Arnold and Arthur Satre, and one grandson: Aaron Fiebelkorn.
