Funeral Mass for Henrietta Besler, 99, of Herman, Minnesota was held Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, Minnesota with Fr. Peter VanderWeyst Celebrant. Pallbearers were Terry Vipond, Joe Vipond, Mark Vipond and Paul Kirkeide. Organist was Sue Blume with special music provided by Norman Bartells. Interment was in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, rural Herman. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time at St. Charles Catholic Church with a rosary that was led by Jeanne Backman and Kathryn Haney. The Ranney Funeral Home of Herman, Minnesota was in charge of arrangements. Henrietta Besler was born on August 21, 1911 on a farm in North Ottawa Township, Minnesota to Jacob and Eunice (ODonnell) Besler. She attended Pride of the Prairie School for three years before attending Corndale School where she graduated in 1926. She was a housekeeper on the family farm for her farther and two brothers from 1930, when her mother died, until they retired and sold the farm in 1974. Henrietta moved to Herman, Minnesota with her brothers where she lived until moving to the Traverse Care Center in 1994. She was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church and many of the church circles and groups. Henrietta enjoyed baking, she was especially known for her white cake. Henrietta passed away on November 24, 2010 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. Henrietta is survived by nieces: Jeanette Ventura Cousino of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Eunice Ventura of La Mesa, California, Mary Sue (Twenge) Mueller, Newberg, Oregon, Lois Ann (Twenge) Lackey, Sublimity, Oregon; nephews Mike Twenge of Monmouth, Oregon and Jack Twenge of Newberg, Oregon, eighteen grand-nieces and nephews, thirty four great-grand nieces and nephews and thirteen great-great-grandnieces and nephews. Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, Eunice (ODonnell) and Jacob Besler, her brothers, Manus and Donald, her sisters, Loella Twenge and Valma Ventura and her nephew, Dick Twenge. Remembrance donations may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, Minnesota or Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, Minnesota
