The Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton, Minnesota is in charge of arrangements. Inez Mable Peterson was born in Lake Valley Township, Traverse County, Minnesota on 27th day of February, 1913 to Alfred E. and Anna Peterson. Alfred and Anna's family lived on the farm during the summer and moved to town for the winter months. Inez enjoyed many years of marriage with her husband Vernon R. Heggen until his passing in 1969. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She embraced entertaining family and friends in her home-always ready with a pot of coffee! She worked in the post office in Galveston, Texas, while Vernon was in the service, for attorneys in Wheaton as a secretary, a teacher in a country school, and as a teller at the state bank of Wheaton, from where she eventually retired. She was an active member of her church and various community groups such as P.E.O. and the Auxillary. Piano playing was always a great part of her life. She began accompanying soloists in her church at age 14-later also directing the choir and other musical activities well into her later years. She enjoyed many forms of creativity, but was most content digging in the dirt in her backyard, creating palettes of color with her flowers. Blessed with a great sense of humor and abundant kindness and generosity, she was a wonderful mom, gramma, sister and friend. Inez passed away May 7, 2006 at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. Inez is survived by one daughter: Judy (Steve) Kellerman of Livermore, Colorado, two sisters: Alice (Joe) Seiler of South Haven, Michigan, and Magel Rockwell of Edina, Minnesota, one brother: Alfred Peterson of Wheaton, Minnesota, and three granddaughters: Jessi Hutchings of Fort Collins, Colorado, Jay Hutchings of Lakewood, Colorado, and Katie Hutchings of Moorhead, Minnesota.
