Jon Reckner

Funeral Services for Jon Howard Reckner, age 53, will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at 11:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Rev Paul Warnier officiated. Pallbearers were Doug and Dean Wohlenhaus, Marty Buttke, Jerome Deal, Dave Kellen, Dean Olhoft, Sonny Bartells, and Monty Itzen. Jon passed away at his home in Wheaton on Saturday, September 24th. Interment was at the Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. Jon was born in Wheaton on February 9, 1952 to LeRoy and Shirley (Wohlenhaus) Reckner. He grew up on the family farm near Norcross and attended school in Wheaton. He was a member of the high school football team and an active member of the high school debate team. Jon was a Merit Scholar and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1970 with honors. He received an AAL Scholarship and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where he was also a member of their debate team, which competed in many National Tournaments. Jon graduated Suma Cum Laude from Augustana in 1974. He was employed for many years in the Parts Department for Mack Trucking firms in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. Jon was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time with his family in Wheaton and Joannes family at Hackensack, MN. His wife, Joanne, passed away several years ago. Jon loved watching sports either on TV or at the stadium or arena. Jon is survived by his parents: LeRoy and Shirley Reckner of Wheaton, 2 brothers: Joel of Minneapolis and James of Breckenridge, his in-laws: John and Betty Gleisner and their family of Hackensack, his uncle: Lyle (JoAnn) Wohlenhaus of Wheaton, Aunt: Amy Reckner of Herman, cousins: Doug and Linda Wohlenhaus of Wheaton, Deb and Marty Buttke of Milbank, SD, Dean and Marilee Wohlenhaus of Fergus Falls, and several other cousins. Jon was preceded in death by his wife: Joanne, grandparents: Howard and Bernice Wohlenhaus, Earl and Mary Reckner, and uncle: Albert Reckner The Ranney Funeral of Wheaton was in charge of arrangements
