Joseph Findlay Jr.

Joseph Junior Findlay, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Milbank, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Michael Breach officiating.

Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Ross Findlay, Rahn Findlay, Matthew Findlay, Nathan Findlay, Dylan Findlay and Ben Findlay. Honorary Pallbearers will be Granddaughters: Kimberly Schroeder, Rachel Robinson, Roxanne Hagen, Tiffany Findlay, Megan Findlay, Jennifer Findlay, Amber Findlay, Savannah Findlay, Candice Hansen and Stephanie Findlay.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the church. Visitation will continue Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Joseph Junior Findlay was born on December 14, 1926 in Stella, Nebraska. He was the son of Joseph C. and Hazel Findlay. Joseph Junior was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through Holy Baptism and confirmed his faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN. At the age of four, Junior, his parents and his brother Darrell moved to Graceville, MN. Joseph graduated from the eighth grade in Johnson, MN. In 1940 he and his family moved to rural Dumont, MN.

Joseph Junior married Shirley Peterson on May 20, 1951 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN. From this union they had seven boys. They resided on a farm near Dumont, MN. In 1954 Joseph Junior bought a farm by Herman, MN. Joseph Junior made his living as a grain and livestock farmer. Joseph Junior was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Wheaton, MN. He also belonged to The Lutheran Laymen's League. Joseph enjoyed many trips with Shirley; their favorite vacation spot was Maui, Hawaii.
He is survived by sons Keith (Kathy) Findlay of Mankato, MN; David (Ladonna) Findlay of Norcross, MN; Gary (Rhonda) Findlay of Herman, MN; Daniel (Bonnie) Findlay of Herman, MN; Roger (Karrie) Findlay of Clinton, MN; Paul (Cathy) Findlay of Coon Rapids, MN; sixteen grandchildren: Kimberly (Dusty) Schroeder of Holloway, MN; Dylan Findlay of Mankato, MN; Rachel Robinson of Hopkins, MN; Roxanne (Derek) Hagen of Alexandria, MN; Ross (Cally) Findlay of Herman, MN; Rahn (Stephanie ) Findlay of Baxter, MN; Tiffany, Megan, Benjamin, Jennifer, Amber Findlay of Herman, MN; Matthew (Ashley) Findlay of Prior Lake, MN; Savannah Findlay of Herman, MN; Candice (James) Hansen of Hudson, WI; Nathan Findlay of Graceville, MN; and Stephanie Findlay of Clinton, MN; thirteen great-grandchildren: Devon, Dain, and Korah Scroeder of Holloway, MN; Emma Robinson and Trey Allen of Hopkins, MN; Amya and Ethan Hagen of Alexandria, MN; Madison and Mack Findlay of Herman, MN; Odin, Ike and Bo Findlay of Prior Lake, MN; and Jackson Hansen of Hudson, WI.

Joseph is survived by his sisters: Marjorie (Jack) Smith of Pueblo, Co; Gloria Siefert of Waco, TX; and brother Lawrence (Hazel) Findlay of Beardsley, MN; sister-in-law Virginia Peterson of Morris, MN; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joseph Junior was preceded in death by parents Joseph C. and Hazel Findlay; parents-in-law Theodore and Alma Peterson; wife Shirley Findlay; son Bryan Findlay; brother Darrell Findlay; brothers-in-law Verlin Peterson and Thomas Siefert; and sister-in-law Eleanor Findlay.
