Joyce Groenwold

Funeral Mass for Joyce Leona Groenwold, 71, of Herman, Minnesota will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, Minnesota with Fr. Dave Petron Officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 10th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Herman. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman. Joyce Leona Gehrke was born August 19, 1936 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to John and Gladys (Dura) Gehrke. Joyce was united in marriage to Harland Groenwold on February 28, 1960 in Argusville, North Dakota. The couple resided in Norcross, Minnesota where they farmed. Joyce was very active at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, where she was a Catechism Teacher, member of the church choir and church guild. Joyce was also a member of the Norcross Study Club and TOPS. Joyce and Harland enjoyed square dancing. Joyce also enjoyed flowers and gardening, working with and restoring antiques, and visiting with friends and family. Harland passed away in 1990. Joyce always put forth extreme efforts to be the best mother, wife and friend she could be. Always putting other peoples needs and feelings before her own. She always offered a kind word and a helping hand that was sincere and heartfelt. She will truly be missed for we were blessed to have her in our lives these precious few years. Joyce passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, Minnesota. Joyce is survived by two sons: Rick Groenwold of Norcross, Minnesota & Brad Groenwold of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mother: Gladys Gehrke of Fargo, North Dakota and one granddaughter: Samantha Groenwold of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
