Katherine Kjorness

Funeral Service for Katherine Joyce Kjorness, 54, of Herman, Minnesota will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, Minnesota with Rev. Jennifer Rose officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard Bullick, Richard Bullick Jr., Kenny Bullick, Warren LaPlante, Grant Schmall, Mark Reuter, Ryan Saurer & Bob Nolz. Organist will be Olivia Richards with special music by Steve Young. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Herman, and one hour prior to services at the church. Katherine Joyce Kjorness was born February 8, 1954 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Sylvan and Irene Apland. She was raised and lived most of her life in Grant County. She attended and graduated from high school in Herman. On July 2, 1977 she married George Arthur Kjorness and moved to a farm in Delaware Township, where they farmed until Georges death in 1992. She remained on the farm until 1999. She lived her remaining years in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking cakes, cooking, sewing, scrap booking, and spending time with her family. After her lung transplant in 2005 she was given a second chance to enjoy life. Kathy passed away on August 9, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Kathy is survived by three sons: Travis (Karen) Kjorness of Barnesville, Minnesota, David (Tammy) Kjorness of Herman, Minnesota & Scott (Stacy) Kjorness of Lowry, Minnesota, sister: Joan (Richard) Bullick of Alexandria, Minnesota, brother: Jerald Apland of Barrett, Minnesota, Aunt: Ethel Hokanson of Herman, Minnesota, seven grandchildren: Amanda & Melanie Prechel of Barnesville, Minnesota, Alyssa, Mariah & McKenna Kjorness of Herman, & Marissa & Brooke Kjorness of Lowry, Minnesota, & many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Sylvan Apland Jr., Marlys Smith, James Apland, & Richard Apland.
