Kathleen Berghuis

Kathleen "Kay" Berghuis, age 91, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, Minnesota.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Cheryl Berg officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Alexandria, Minnesota. Urn bearers will be Kelly Krauth and Chad Schmidt. Honorary urn bearers will be her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Kathleen Peggy Schmidt was born January 1, 1929 in Graceville, Minnesota the daughter of Leslie and Alice (O’Donnell) Schmidt. She attended country school and graduated from Wheaton High School. She worked at a clinic in Wheaton and later at a clinic in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Kay married Henry Berghuis and the coupled resided in Alexandria. After Henry’s death she returned to Wheaton to live near her family.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Clay, Dale, Pete and Jerry; and sisters: Lucille and Shiela.

Kay is survived by her step-daughter Mary (Ron) Mulder of Jackson, MN; sister Joan Thoennes of Minneapolis, MN; two brothers: Skip (Marge) Schmidt of Springs Lake Park, MN; and Mike (Connie) Schmidt of Wheaton, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
