Kenneth "Ken" Gruneich, age 85, of Graceville, Minnesota, was called home September 10, 2019 at Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction, Colorado after he lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
Kenneth was born January 11,1934 in Kulm, North Dakota to Emanuel and Ida Gruneich. At the age of four with his family he moved to Graceville, Minnesota where he called home. He graduated in 1952 from Graceville High School. In 1956 he married Irene Erickson of Wheaton, Minnesota and had two children Sandra and Gary. In 1981 he married Clarissa Sorbel of Morris, Minnesota. Kenneth was involved in farming all of his life. He enjoyed reading, watching the Twins and Vikings, playing dominoes and dice, but most of all spending time with family and friends.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Sandra Rumley of Norwalk, Iowa; and Gary (Marleen) Gruneich of Fruita, Colorado; his step-children Janine (Robert) Larson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Jaymes (Jeanne) Sorbel of Four Seasons, Missouri; Jennifer (Michael) Grund of Olivia, Minnesota; and Joel Sorbel of Willmar, Minnesota. He has four grandsons: Daniel Frank and Adam (Natalie) Frank of Iowa and Christopher (Tami) Gruneich and Michael (Ali) Gruneich of Colorado; step-grandchildren: Jessica (Travis) Kvanvig and Randy (Michele) Swanson of North Dakota; Cody Larson, Ashley (Peter) McGovern, Amber Grund and Nick Beste of Minnesota; Christina (Keunhyuk) Choi of Illinois; Landry (Katie) Sorbel of Missouri; and Justin (Annie) Rumley of Virgnia; and many beloved great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters Virginia (Arnold) Vold of Johnson, Minnesota; Delorse (Kenny) Sprouls of Delano, Minnesota; Shirley (Chuck) Lewiston of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Gladys Leavitt of Sun Lakes, Arizona.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Clarissa; his parents; brother George Gruneich; and sisters Ann Swanson and Erma Gernandt.
