Funeral Service for Laurel Siegel, 74, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Thomas Olson officiating. Organist will be Sara Rinke with pecial music provided by Aaron Deutsch. Pallbearers will be Tylor Siegel, Matt Wahl, Lance Siegel, Neil Siegel, Pat Deutsch, Terry Deutsch, Scott Deutsch and Pat Deutsch Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wheaton High School Class of 1955 and all of Laurels grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2nd from 4:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. Prayer Service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be at a later date in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Laurel was born on October 12th, 1936 in Wheaton to Arthur and Lydia (Kunkel) Siegel. He was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, MN. Laurel attended school in Wheaton and graduated in 1955. After school he traveled to Pennsylvania where he attended floor covering trade school. Upon completion, Laurel returned to Wheaton and began his career in the floor covering business working for Ranney, Nord and Johnson. In 1957 Laurel was united in marriage to the love of his life and dance partner Cleone Deutsch. To this union came four children Timothy, Laurie, Shaun and Joel. In 1960 Laurel purchased his first home which became his lifelong project. Through the years he enjoyed remodeling and landscaping his little piece of heaven on earth. In 1970 Laurel went into business for himself when he opened Siegels Fabric and Floor covering. He was a perfectionist who took great pride in his work. He was involved in the business with his son Tim until the time of his death. In his semi-retirement days Laurel spent many hours working on his gardens and his koi pond. He also was a great Warrior fan and attended his childrens and grandchildrens games religiously. Laurel enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Laurel was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who put his family first and cared for them deeply. He will be loved and missed by all. Laurel passed away February 25, 2011 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, Minnesota. Laurel is survived by his wife, Cleone of Wheaton, four children: Tim (Desiree) Siegel, Laurie Siegel, and Shaun (Lisa) Siegel all of Wheaton, Minnesota and Joel (Greta) Siegel of Alexandria, Minnesota, five siblings: Wayne (Maggie) Siegel of Wheaton, Minnesota, Arletta (Marlin) Berneking of Alexandria, Minnesota, Betty (Gerald) Rusch of Wheaton, Minnesota, Leland Siegel of Royalton, Minnesota and Patty (Russ) Waskow of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, two sisters-in-law: Lorise Siegel of Wheaton, Minnesota and Darlene Siegel of Rosholt, South Dakota, nine grandchildren: Matt (Jenny) Wahl, Kerry Wahl, Emily (Brian) Wahl, Tylor, Grace and Jack Siegel, Isaac and Laurel Siegel, and Landon Siegel, and four great-grandchildren: Hunter and Gavin Wahl and Kaitlynn and Kianna Wahl. Laurel was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Amber Wahl, three brothers: Harley, Byron and Loren, and step-mother Fern Fahleen Siegel.
