LaVonne K. Berger was born November 20, 1940, in Wheaton, MN to Erick and Agnes (Raguse) Berger. Bonnie passed away on June 23, 2023 in Providence Regional Hospital in Anchorage, AK.
Bonnie attended school in Wheaton and Morris Agricultural School in Morris MN for two years, graduating from Wheaton High School in 1958. She moved to the Minneapolis area working before attending Northwest Orient Airlines (now Delta Airlines) training school, then moving to Milwaukee in 1962 working with a friend in reservations for one year before returning to Minneapolis working in reservations. In 1965 she moved to Anchorage AK continuing in reservations, then promoted to supervisor of the ticket counter, then moving into the Cargo Department retiring as supervisor after working for Delta Airlines for 40+ years.
She married Dale Rosheim on January 8, 1973, in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Anchorage AK enjoying the Alaska area hiking, camping, touring the state as often as they could and enjoying their cabin on Rainbow Lake for many years. They took many trips in the USA, Europe and Asia visiting both Japan and Australia. Bonnie loved being a tour guide to any visitors to Alaska going to as many sights in Alaska as they could including glaciers, halibut fishing and anywhere she could take you. Dale died on May 10, 2014, and is buried in North Prairie Cemetery in rural Leland, Iowa.
Bonnie was very involved with the Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) philanthropy group (fundraising for the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital) joining in 1978 and was state president of Alaska State Council several times. She attended ESA state and regional conventions in the Western States and Australia and many national conventions as Alaska state representative. She was a member of the Western States Council. Bonnie and Dale enjoyed many “Spring Flings” with the Western States ESA members traveling to various areas and cruises in USA and Mexico.
Her passions, cabin life, listening to the loons on the lake, conservation and parks in Alaska, Alaska Botanical, and Alaska Sea Life Center. She enjoyed traveling and latest trips included Iceland, Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands in the Bearing Sea, Western States spring flings and ESA national convention in Florida. In 2019 enjoyed a sisters’ and sister-in-law trip (Marcie, Cindy, and Joey) on a Viking River cruise visiting the Netherlands ending in Budapest. The last trip of the 3 sisters was made February 2023, meeting Marcie and Cindy at Marco Island in Florida. Bonnie attended an ESA fundraiser in Packwood Washington.
Bonnie is survived by brothers Verdell Berger, Leon Berger and Gordie (Joey) Berger, sisters Marcie Conroy and Cindy (Greg)Thrall, Nieces, Nephews and many Cousins, stepson Iven Rosheim and family (Chicago), stepdaughter Ingrid Walsh and family (Ivoryton, CT).
She was proceeded in death by husband Dale Rosheim in 2014, parents Erick and Agnes Berger, parents in law Ivert and Vivian Rosheim; sister in law’s Patricia Berger, Darlene Berger and brother-in-law Tom Conroy, brother- in- laws Keith and Marlyn Rosheim.
Memorial service will be held August 26, 2023 at 11:00 CST at Bainbridge Funeral Home, 106 10th Street N, Wheaton, MN 56296. Burial will take place at North Prairie Cemetery in rural Leland, Iowa at a later date. Lunch will be served following the memorial service at the American Legion Club in Wheaton, MN.
