Lawrence Wilt Jr., age 77, of Dumont, Minnesota passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
A public Graveside Service will be held Friday, June 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Dumont with Fr. John Paul Knopik officiating. Pallbearers will be Joey Wilt, Jay Hammer, Jon Brink, Cody Hassler, Grant Pearson and Frankie Balderas.
A public visitation will be held Friday, June 12th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton. Current COVID-19 restrictions will be enforced.
Lawrence Charles Wilt Jr. was born in Graceville, MN on February 4, 1943, to Agnes (Zimmel) and Lawrence Wilt Sr. He was baptized, received First Communion and Confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Dumont, MN. He married Judith Ann Klein on July 7, 1962 and to this union a son and daughter were born: Joey and Jolene.
Larry made his living as a grain and livestock farmer in the Wheaton/Dumont MN area until he retired. After his retirement from farming, you could still find him driving tractors, spending time at the farm and teaching his grandchildren all about the farm life. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, hunting, fishing and making others laugh with his many stories. He especially loved to tell his grandchildren stories of his hunting days when he was better known by his nickname, “Bullets”.
Larry is survived by his son, Joey (Jackie) Wilt of Dumont, MN; Daughter Jolene (Jay) Hammer of Gardner, ND; grandchildren: Kalai (Jon) Brink of Dumont, MN; Karly (Cody) Hassler of Fargo, ND; Megan and Alley Wilt of Dumont, MN; Karissa Hammer of Gardner, ND; great-grandchildren: Jaxton Brink of Dumont, MN.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Agnes and Lawrence Wilt; wife of 37 years, Judy Wilt; sister Anna (Vern) Kraus; and brother Clifford Wilt.
