Funeral Service for Leslie LeRoy Jackson, 88, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Wednesday November 26, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Pallbearers will be Leslies Grandchildren : Michelle Castren, Marc Rinke, Robin Jacobson, Darin Rinke, Kelly Eiden, Dan Rinke, and Adam Carrigan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen Johnson, William Buss, Henry Rinke, Myron Johnson, Marvin Bach, Jack Cory, Dwayne Gaulrapp and Dennis Koch. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Leslie LeRoy Jackson was born on March 15, 1920 to Edith Evalin (Jackson) and Ralph Dale Haverfield in Opheim, Montana. Leslie was baptized by Rev. Carl Reisius in Minneapolis and confirmed at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in Wheaton by Rev. Carl Zaar. He attended school in Redpath Township while living with his aunt and uncle, Harry and Nimie Jackson and cousin VerNell. In June 1944, he married Dorothy Swedberg. He served his country in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. Leslie and Dorothy welcomed two daughters: Evelyn Marie in 1945 and Julie Ann in 1949. Leslie was a lineman for Traverse Electric for 36 years. He was a member of Gustavus Adolphus and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Leslie served on the Church Council and was a Luther League Leader and a member of the Merton-Dale American Legion Post #80 for 62 years. Leslie enjoyed watching all sporting events, fishing and spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great pride and joy. Leslie passed away on November 23, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Leslie is survived by his wife Dorothy of Wheaton, daughters: Evie (Dave) Rinke of Wheaton, and Julie (Allen) Carrigan of Ham Lake, Minnesota, grandchildren: Michelle Castren, Marc (Sue) Rinke, Robin Jacobson, Darin (Michelle) Rinke, Kelly (Eric) Eiden, Dan (Heidi) Rinke, and Adam Carrigan, great-grandchildren: Ryan and Linnea Jacobson, Alaina Larson, Jackson, Joseph and Tia Eiden, Kate, Ethan and Austin Rinke, Kaitlin, Anna and Ellissa Rinke, and Holden Rinke, three sisters: Dorothy, Lucille and Susan, two brothers: Vernon and Allen, cousins: VerNell and Bill Buss, Dennis and Bev Jacobson, niece and nephews: Sheryl Dowen, Colin Jackson, and Mike Jackson, and other cousins, nieces and nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Verle and Donald.
