Lillian Marie Peterson, age 91, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, South Dakota.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Pastor Dan Heath Officiating. Organist will be LeAnn Bjornson with special music provided by Darwin & Donna Anderson.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, White Rock, South Dakota. Honorary urn bearers will be Lillian's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 4th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Lillian was born July 11, 1925 at home in Rushmore, Minnesota to Gunder and Emma (Dale) Gunderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Her early years were spent in Nobles County, Minnesota before moving to Traverse County, Minnesota. On February 7, 1950, Lillian was united in marriage to Marlin Peterson. To this union four children were born; Wayne, Marlene, Fran, and Anita. She was employed at the Wheaton Community Hospital as a cook for 33 years. Upon her retirement, she was able to spend more time with her 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. She also enjoyed embroidery, playing Bingo, and doing word searches. She was currently residing at the Care Center in Rosholt, South Dakota.

She was a kind and giving woman who had a special place in her heart for many people. Her sense of humor and loving arms will be greatly missed by her four children: Wayne (Susan) Peterson of Dearborn, Michigan; Marlene (Lynn) Pistorius of Rosholt, South Dakota; Fran Ketterling of Owatonna, Minnesota; and Anita (Steven) Tritz of Rosholt, South Dakota; one brother George (Edna) Gunderson of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Baumann of Wahpeton, North Dakota; Lillian Mohs of Fairmount, North Dakota and Susan Peterson of Atwater, Minnesota; ten grandchildren: Carrie (Chris), Cristi, Sharla (Jason), Stacy (Tim), Brian (Alyssa), Tara, Heather (Mike), Scot (Justine), Meghan, and Colin; thirteen great grandchildren: Baihley, Zander, Jorden, Olivia, Zachary, Caleb, Shae, Cole, Tessa, Jacob, Teigyn, Nora, and Jace; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Marlin, parents, great-grandson Darien Rothstein; sisters: Dagny Allison and Freda Rabenberg; and brother Corwin Gunderson.
