Lilly Propp

August 18, 1924 — August 3, 2019

Lilly Propp

On the third day of August, in the year of our Lord, 2019, Lilly was called home to our Heavenly Father, at the age of 94 years and 11 months and 15 days.

Lilly Corrine Lonning was born on August 18, 1924. She was born on the family farm, near Freda, ND, to Olous and Inga Lonning. When Lilly was only five months of age, her mother, Inga passed away. Her father, unable to care for five children, alone and during the great depression, allowed Alfred and Gena Lien to take Lilly and raise her as their own child. She attended school at Freda, then Larimore and finally Fairmont, ND.

On September 13, 1942, Lilly married the love of her life, Floyd A. Propp, of Taylor Township, near Wheaton, MN. Floyd and Lilly were blessed with four children. They resided on a farm in Taylor Township for nineteen years and then moved from the farm, into Wheaton, MN, where they lived for five years. In 1968, they moved to Slayton, MN, where Floyd was employed as the Murray County Assessor. Lilly was employed, for several years, at Kid Dubs Sewing Factory, in Slayton. Lilly remained living in Slayton, after the death of her husband, Floyd, in 2003. In July, 2012, Lilly moved back to Wheaton. She spent her remaining days at the Wheaton Care Center.

Lilly was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton and most recently, St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton.

Lilly enjoyed arts and crafts of all kinds, gardening and canning. She especially loved to china paint, oil paint and had a passion for sewing. She found joy in creating beautiful crafts out of whatever she had on hand. She found contentment and peace in prayer and the Bible, knowing that the Lord was always near and dear.

Lilly had many friends and loved to visit with them and her family. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She cherished her husband, four children, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Lilly was preceded in death by her parents Olous and Inga Lonning; foster parents Alfred and Gena Lien; husband Floyd Propp; siblings: Orville Lonning, Nonson Lonning, Signa Wright and Ingret Walburn; and foster siblings: Bertha Johnson, Lavina Marks and Alfred Lien.

She is survived by one son Lynn (Margee) Propp of Wheaton, MN; three daughters: DeVonne (Ronald) Kloos of Jackson, MN; Lynette (William) Zaske of Renville, MN; and Joleen (Kevin) Kriesel of Isanti, MN; ten grandchildren: Lori Propp-Anderson, Larry Propp, Michael Kloos, Jeffrey Kloos, Matthew Zaske, Mark Zaske, Jeremy Olson, Brittany (Olson) Isle, Heidi (Kriesel) Gessler and Nicole (Kriesel) Roddy; nineteen great-grandchildren: Tannis, Dain, Michael, Jessica, Aaron, Kirstin, Emily, Sean, Hope, Ari, Blake, Laila, Lennon, Hannah, Trista, Easton, Ethan, Owen and Kellen; one great-great grandchild Serena; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton.
