Funeral Service for Lowell D. Johnson, 77, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating. Pallbearers will be Lowells Grandchildren Patrick Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Travis Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Amber Johnson, Jennifer Foster, Jamie Johnson & Daron Johnson. Visitation will be held Friday, December 21st from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery in the Spring of 2008. Lowell was born in Wheaton, Minnesota on August 20, 1930 to August and Ruth Johnson. He attended school, completing the 9th grade. He entered the US Army where he served from November 7, 1951 until August 6, 1953. For his service Lowell received the Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars. He married Melvie Wallmann in Hankinson, North Dakota while on military leave on April 12, 1952. Lowell farmed and raised livestock with his brother, Leon, and worked for the Wheaton-Dumont Elevator as feed manager, retiring in 1992. Lowell was a member of the American Legion, Bethlehem Covenant Church Trustee Board and Lake Valley Township Board. He loved to hunt and fish. He taught the love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. Lowell passed away at the Rosholt Care Center in Rosholt, South Dakota on December 19, 2007. Lowell is survived by four sons: Steve (Lynn), Gary (Vicky) of Wheaton, Minnesota, Doug (Rosemary) of Newton, Texas, and Bryan of New York Mills, Minnesota. He is also survived by grandchildren, Patrick Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Travis Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Amber Johnson, Jennifer Foster, Jamie Johnson and Daron Johnson, great-grandchildren: Hunter Johnson and Aurora Johnson. His sister-in-law: Shirley Johnson of Wheaton, best friend Willie Bock of Wheaton, and his trusted companion Rusty, also survived Lowell. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers: Don and Leon.
