Funeral Services for Luanne Peickert will be held Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton. Interment will be at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Dumont, Minnesota. There will be visitation Tuesday evening at the Ranney Funeral Chapel in Wheaton from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation also at the church 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday. Luanne passed away Saturday evening at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton at the age of 74. Luanne was born on March 11, 1934 in Graceville, Minnesota to Oscar and Esther (Grohs) Peickert. She grew up in Dumont, Minnesota and attended school in Wheaton. After graduating from Wheaton High School in 1951, Luanne went to work for the Wheaton Elevator as a bookkeeper. She was involved in a terrible traffic accident north of Collis in 1954 and spent the next 5 years in various hospitals and institutions. In 1959 she became one of the first residents to be admitted to the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. Luanne received excellent care from the staff and nurses there, and became a special friend to many of them during her 50 years as a resident. They truly were her family. Luanne loved to play Bingo at the Care Center, and was an avid piano player before her accident. Luanne Peickert is survived by 3 brothers: Ronald Peickert of Wheaton, Gary and Marsha Peickert of Mound, MN, Allen and Carol Peickert of Waite Park, MN. many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 3 aunts; Marie Hyland of Bloomington, Minnesota, Jean Nash of Eagan, Minnesota, Helen Schaffer of Graceville.
